The government will provide pension to those with salary up to Rs 21,000, family pension under ESIC

Dependents of those who lost their lives due to corona will be given family pension under Employees State Insurance Corporation.


The Corona Second Wave has claimed millions of lives across the country. There are many families who have lost members who earned money at home. The central government has announced a number of measures to help such families. Dependents of those who lost their lives due to Covid-19 will be given a Family Pension under the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC). It has been liberalized while enhancing the insurance benefits available under the EDLI scheme.


People with a salary of 21 thousand per month will get a pension


The benefit of ESIC is available to employees whose monthly income is Rs 21,000 or less. However, in the case of the disabled, the limit is Rs 25,000. The government said such victim families could live a dignified life and improve living standards.


The rule will come into force from March 24, 2020


This benefit will be applicable from 24th March 2020 and thus the facility will be available for all cases till 24th March 2022. The dependent family member of these persons will be entitled to a pension equal to 90 per cent of the average daily pay or wages of the concerned employee or worker as per the existing criteria.

EDLI has liberalized as well as increased the insurance benefits available under the scheme. In addition to all the other beneficiaries, the scheme will especially help the families of employees who have lost their lives due to covid. The maximum insurance benefit has been increased from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 7 lakh. While the minimum benefit provision of Rs 2.5 lakh has been implemented and will be effective from 15 February 2020 for the next three years.
