How much did the Gujarat government earn from petrol-diesel, the figures for the last 2 years were announced in the assembly

During the proceedings of Gujarat Legislative Assembly, the revenue figures of petrol-diesel were released to the state. In the year 2020, the revenue of petrol was 3919.76 crore and that of diesel was 8743.58 crore.

The state government came up against VAT revenue during Question Hour in the House today.  The state government had revenue of Rs 4462.30 crore in petrol and Rs 9776.68 crore in diesel in 2019.  The state government levies a cess of 20 per cent on petrol and 20.2 per cent on diesel as well as a cess of 4 per cent.

The state government earned Rs 3,919.76 crore on petrol and Rs 8,743.58 crore on diesel in 2020.  It may be mentioned that the state government took a loan despite having so much income.  The government borrowed Rs 3,980 crore in 2018-19 and Rs 4,000 crore in 2019-20.  The government had paid Rs 1,651 crore in principal and Rs 757 crore in interest on loans in 2018-19.  And in the year 2019-20, 1997 crore principal and 882 crore interest was paid by the government.

In Ahmedabad, petrol is being sold at Rs 88.18 per liter and diesel at Rs 87.61 per liter. The price of both has been reduced by 13 paise today.  .



In Surat, petrol is being sold at Rs 88.15 and diesel at Rs 87.61 per liter today, down by 38 paise and 36 paise, respectively, and in Rajkot, petrol is being sold at Rs 88.00 and diesel at Rs 87.45 per liter, down by 10 paise.  Thus, petrol-diesel prices have come down in four metros of Gujarat, but the biggest decline has been in Surat.

Petrol went up by Rs 4.74 in 16 days


But since February, petrol prices have risen for 16 consecutive days, rising by Rs 4.74 per liter, and in Mumbai by Rs.  97.57, the highest among metro cities.  In Bhopal, XP petrol was priced at Rs 102.12.  With this, petrol prices in almost all the cities reached their highest level.
