As the Nation celebrates Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav

Shri Acharya Devvratji, Governor of Gujarat, Shri Vijay Rupaniji, Chief Minister, Shri Prahlad Patelji, my colleague in the Union Cabinet, Shri CR Patilji, my fellow MP in Lok Sabha, Shri Kirit Singh Bhai, newly elected Mayor of Ahmedabad, Shri Kartikey Sarabhai, Trustee of Sabarmati Trust Respected Amrit Modiji, whose life is dedicated to the Ashram, all the dignitaries, ladies and gentlemen who have joined us from all over the country and my young comrades!

When I left Delhi this morning, a wonderful coincidence happened. Before the commencement of Amrut Mahotsav, Amrut Varsha also took place in the capital of the country today and Varun Dev also gave blessings. It is the good fortune of all of us that we are witnessing this historic period of independent India. Today, on the anniversary of Dandi Yatra, we are witnessing the creation of history on this karma bhoomi of Bapu and we are also becoming a part of history. Today is the first day of the Amrut Mahotsav of Independence. Amrut Mahotsav started 75 weeks ago today, 15th August 2022 and will continue till 15th August 2023. We believe that whenever such an occasion arises, all the pilgrimages converge together. Today is a similarly sacred occasion for India as a nation. Today, many holy places of our freedom struggle, many holy centers are being connected with Sabarmati Ashram.

Cellular Jail in Andaman, land of Kekar Morning witnessing 'Anglo-Indian War' from Arunachal Pradesh, August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai, Jallianwala Bagh in Punjab, Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, Kakori and Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. Shri Ganesh of the festival is happening. It seems that the energy of innumerable struggles for freedom, innumerable sacrifices and innumerable penances are being re-awakened all over India at once. I offer my faith at the feet of Bapu on this auspicious occasion. I respectfully bow at the feet of all the great personalities who have sacrificed themselves in the freedom struggle of the country, who have led the country, I salute them. I also pay homage to all the heroic soldiers who kept the tradition of national defense alive even after independence, made supreme sacrifices for the protection of the country, were martyred. I also salute the pious souls who laid the bricks of progress in the reconstruction of independent India, bringing the country to this point in 75 years.
